If you’re on the fence about buying a $150 Xbox One control just to change the buttons around, then this news will be of interest to you. You may not be able to hot swap buttons and add triggers, but you can now configure certain buttons on your Xbox One standard wireless control. The following picture was posted on Major Nelson’s blog.
There are three ways to get to the screen where you can modify your buttons
- Settings / Kinect & Devices / Devices & Accessories
- Settings / Ease of access / Button mapping
- Launch the Xbox Accessories app directly
I personally don’t have any reason to swap any of my buttons, as I’ve become accustomed to how the layout is and how they pertain to the games I play. For those gamers who play on certain genre games, then this may be something that would interest you. You can have two controllers, one with standard mapping and one used only for shooters. If you don’t have another control, but feel that the buttons able to be configured on the standard control then the purchase of one might be a great investment.
