The WWE Extreme Rules pay per view happened yesterday, so lets go through my predictions and see if I was right or wrong.
Daniel Bryan Neville vs. Bad News Barrett – Sadly Daniel Bryan wasn’t cleared to be the pre-show match so Neville came in to take his place against Bad News Barrett. This was such a great choice because of the height difference the match truly became a David and Goliath match. It was the young up and comer against the seasoned veteran and Neville performed perfectly. The Red Arrow was enough to make the non wrestling group I was with say “that was bad ass”. Neville picked up the victory, so I suppose I was right because I said Bad News Barrett would lose.
Dean Ambrose vs Luke Harper – I was right. This match had some potential, but the leaving for 30 minutes only to come back and use only Kendo sticks wasn’t a very good use of the match stipulations. I wanted to see some tables being used in the match, but some chairs to break falls was the most we got.
Dolph Ziggler vs Sheamus – I was wrong. I picked Sheamus to win because he had just come back, but I’m glad Dolph won. The only thing I didn’t like was Sheamus prolonging the inevitable low blow to Ziggler and the camera catching that he rubbed Zigglers forehead on his butt didn’t help either.
Tyson Kidd and Cesaro vs. The New Day – Well obviously the WWE wanted to set the record for boo’s, because I was wrong and The New Day won. I don’t know why they let them win, no one likes them and they’re going to do nothing for story progression. The best part of the match was hearing the group I was with laugh and mock The New Day for being so hated.
John Cena vs. Rusev – I was right. The match wasn’t very exciting because none of them are high flyers or risk takers, it was like watching E. Honda fight Zangief. Lana going to The Authority to get a third and final match at Payback was stupid, because all this means is they have no story lines so they’re going to fast track them straight to the next pay per view.
Nikki Bella vs. Naomi – I was right. There’s something about Naomi that just wasn’t very entertaining. I don’t know why she didn’t even attempt to perform the rear window, it was the only thing she does that the crowd likes. Nikki won because of Brie’s help and I’m sure we’ll see some backstage drama about it next season on Total Divas.
Roman Reigns vs. Big Show – I was right. I said that there would have to be some big moves and I was right. For being a match that the Big Show was part of, it was quite entertaining towards the end. After the nonsense of the tables not being used was gone, the action outside of the ring was pretty cool. Roman Reigns continued to gain his momentum back from the crowd as he picked apart Big Show and left him under a literal pile of broken announcer table ruble.
Seth Rollins vs. Randy Orton – I was right. It was pretty obvious that Seth Rollins was going to win, I just wished the match was a little more entertaining. It seemed that nothing that was used as a stipulation was actually enforced by anyone and Kane is now going to have to answer for what he did to Seth Rollins, which will be that next story line. I did enjoy them borrowing of finishers from both of them.
Get ready for Payback next month on March 17th, it’s probably going to be most of these fights in rematches.
