In just two days the first ever RAW pay per view, Clash of Champions, will take place. This is the first RAW pay per view since the brand split and as the title hints at, all championships will be defended as well as a few non title matches. Looking at the card, this pay per view has the ability to have almost all of the matches be enjoyable and one that stands out as a possible match of the night. Let’s take a look at the matches and make some predictions
The following matches are in no particular order and are taken from Wikipedia
Alicia Fox vs. Nia Jax – Kicking off the pre-show will be a non title match that is more for revenge than anything. The last time Alicia Fox met Nia Jax she was carried out of the ring, but I’m an Alicia Fox fan and I hope she gets to end this story on a good note. Nia may be powerful and have weight on her, but Alicia quick and athletic so I hope that she keeps her in the ring when she can run around, and not outside where Nia can dominate. I’m choosing Alicia Fox.
The New Day (c) vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson – The shtick of The New Day has gotten a little repetitive, and I’m not sure if that’s due to bad writing or bad improving. On the other hand Gallows and Anderson have had some pretty funny comedic bits, and shown that they are a dominate force. The New Day has been really hyping how many days they’ve had the tag team championships, but I don’t think they’ll be losing them until Royal Rumble. I’m picking The New Day to win.
Charlotte (c) vs. Sasha Banks vs. Bayley – This match doesn’t look to be my lock for match of the night, but it does have the elements of a great match. There have been iconic Bayley vs. Sasha Banks matches and throwing Charlotte into the mix is just adding another bit of talent to the mix. I think that they will try to get Charlotte out of ring so that it can be a Bayley vs. Sasha rematch, which will no doubt get the crowd to go wild. I’m going to say Dana Brooke will come out, but get taken out by either Sasha or Bayley and Charlotte will get the win. Look for Charlotte to scold Dana on Monday about interfering and almost costing her the match, then I predict Dana turns on her for good this time.
T.J. Perkins (c) vs. Brian Kendrick – I didn’t watch the Cruiser Weight Classic, so based on name I’m going for Brian Kendrick
Sami Zayn vs. Chris Jericho – Jericho has always been a thorn in my side, as his character seems to bleed onto his podcast and I can’t tell if he’s a dick or still playing a part. Sami Zayn on the other hand shines bright as a face, but this storyline doesn’t really impress me much. In my mind I don’t see that Sami Zayn has any reason to work with Jericho, other than they are just trying to see what works. Sami Zayn does carry matches pretty well, and I see that he will be the standout wrestler in this match. I pick Sami Zayn for the win.
Rusev (c) (with Lana) vs. Roman Reigns – I’m still a Reigns fan, regardless of his story lines or personal issues. He takes his boo’s and still performs, and even tells people to put their beef away. Rusev seems like he has had his time with belt and it’s time to turn it over. With Reigns out of the Universal Championship run, I think he’ll win and win the United States Championship.
Cesaro vs. Sheamus – I don’t know what people see in this best of 7 match, and frankly its a little hypocritical. People always complain that they see the same matches over and over, but here it is being repackaged and people are ok with it. I hope that they don’t do anymore of these and because I don’t like Sheamus, I hope Cesaro wins.
Kevin Owens (c) vs. Seth Rollins – This is going to be my lock for match of the night. There hasn’t been a match that Kevin Owens has been in that wasn’t amazing. Even when Owens we middling he would make his match more exciting than the main event. I believe it’s his amazing microphone work along with the fact that he is a pretty agile big guy. Seth Rollins is also pretty great on the microphone, and looks to be doing a face turn as he rebels against upper management. The athleticism of match is through the roof and even though I think Kevin Owens will win, I think there will be a rematch later on where he’ll lose it to Rollins.
Wildcard Prediction: Triple H will come out and try to interfere, but Reigns will help Rollins as a thank you for helping him on Monday Night Raw in the cage. This will start the beginning of the rumored Shield Reunion.
