The grandest stage of them all, the ultimate thrill ride, yes folks the road has come to it’s destination in Orlando, Florida. Story lines that have been told since last year as well as new story lines that started at The Royale Rumble are finally coming to an end. Everyone is vying for the chance to make their mark and have their moment at the biggest event of WWE each year, Wrestlemania. Both RAW and Smackdown have really hammered home that this is going to be one of the biggest Wrestlemania‘s ever, and if you saw both brands respective go home show you’ll have all the proof you need. Finn Balor has been performing at some house shows the past few weeks, so you know he’s cleared to wrestle. The point where he’ll make an appearance during Wrestlemania is honetsly up in the air, but I have some thoughts that you’ll read below. The other bigger appearance I want to see, and I’m really more excited for this one, is the return of The Hardy Boyz. Broken Matt Hardy and Jeff “Brother Nero” Hardy have been my favorites since the mid 90’s when I was in high school. I gravitated more towards Jeff Hardy and even went out and bought a mesh shirt with the thumb holes so I could do his double pistol fingers. I haven’t really been for the new gimmicks they’re pushing, but to see them back in a WWE ring is going to be pretty awesome. I guess I’ll mention that The New Day will be hosting, not that it should make any difference in the matches. Maybe The Hardy Boyz will come out and challenge them, that’d be different. I just wonder if anyone will yell something at Xavier Woods in regards to the Paige leak that happened last week.
Below are the matches in no particular order, except for the pre-show matches.
Neville vs. Austin Aries – When it comes to a Cruiserweight match that Evil Neville is a part of I will always pick him. It doesn’t matter if he’s fighting someone from 205 Live or if he at a big dinner and bumped his weight class to the next weight class, I’d still root for him. Neville calls himself the King of the Cruiserweights but I say he drops that and goes with Evil Neville, because I think that on a shirt would look pretty cool. Austin Ariesis great on commentary and gets a pretty big pop when he’s in front of the crowd, and there is a part of me who thinks the writers may want the match to go in his favor. I guess that goes with every match, as there are writers who most likely have some favoritism. In my opinioin I could see it be written that Austin Aries wins, but I’m going to go ahead and give Neville his Wrestlemania Moment and say he will win.
Alexa Bliss vs. Becky Lynch vs. Natalya vs. Mickie James vs. Carmella vs. Naomi – Last year they had a ten woman tag team match and this year they’re having a six pack, but it could have easily been a five pack as Naomi made her triumphant return at this past Smackdown Live. Things had been spoiled last week when her dad replied to someone on Twitter telling them that she would in fact be at Wrestlemania, only to take it down right after. I really can’t see anyone except Noemi winning this match for some reason. I mean Naomi is in her home town and I think that’s what the creative team is banking on as they have it written that she will win this match. Everyone else in the match is deserving of a title run, but you can’t have Noami come back and get that big of a pop only to have her lose. If anyone other than Naomi wins the crowd will turn on them, making even the babiest of faces a heel. I saw Naomi wins the six pack challenge.
2017 André the Giant Memorial Battle Royal Battle Royal – There are way too many people to go through and give reasons why they will obviously not be winning this match. If you want to know the front runners, I would say Mojo Rawley, Braun Strowman, The Big Show and Mark Henry. There are three massive giants in this match and Mojo Rowley isn’t as big but I feel he can hold his own, and I think that his hyper active attitude is what’s needed to balance out the other three bigger guys. Sadly I the hype won’t last too long as I’m going to say the end of the match is Big Show and Braun Strowman. I’ll predict that Braun Strowman will win.
Dean Ambrose vs. Baron Corbin – I feel like the lunatic fringe will be starting off Wrestlemania. I haven’t seen him that much lately and I feel like they may be giving him a slow story line only to have it ramp back up after Wrestlemania. Baron Corbin is popular, but not popular enough to be a mid card in this stacked Wrestlemania. I’m going to give the win to Dean Ambrose, because frankly I think he needs it as momentum to get back in a good story line with someone.
Bayley vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Sasha Banks vs. Nia Jax – The streak is currently in tact and Charlotte is going in with three very talented women. Nia Jax has power while Sasha and Bayley are quick and agile. I don’t think a proper heel turn can be done in a four way match, as it’s every person for themselves. Sasha has already stated that her friendship with Bayley outside of the ring is strong, but in the ring it’s all business. On Sasha‘s Instagram she posted a picture a while back of Bayley holding the Women’s Championship and tagged it future. The foreshadowing is pretty evident, but a match that has a good Sasha and Bayley section along with Charlotte breaking the streak would be pretty amazing. I’m going to go against the grain and say that Sasha wins, and then at the end of the match turns on Bayley when she tries to shake her hand or hug her.
Bray Wyatt vs. Randy Orton – The forces of evil are hard at work here, as we have magic man against an arsonist. The Bray and Randy feud has been taking some odd turns and I feel like this is the definitive end. I really enjoy Bray being the champion, but for some reason I feel like Randy will win and Bray will go on to feud with Luke Harper until the next pay per view. It doesn’t seem like a fitting end to a pretty cool champion, but that’s how things will end up going.
Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson vs. Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. Cesaro and Sheamus – Oh god Enzo and Big Cass better win this match. The Club are good outside of the ring with their sense of humor and Cesaro and Sheamus have shown to be a great team, but holy hell it’s about time we see gold around the wastes of Enzo and Big Cass. I feel like they have put their time in and they deserve to walk out as tag team champions. Enzo and Big Cass will win, and you can’t teach that.
John Cena and Nikki Bella vs. The Miz and Maryse – In all honesty this has become one of my favorite feuds in the past few weeks. The Miz has been a joke to me the past year, but he has really turned around and whoever thought of those Total Bella Bullshit sketches was a genius. Sadly there was another person who was a better writer and have provided some of the best promo’s John Cena has ever said. Not enough damage for a heel turn, but John Cena has made some more fans and probably sold a lot more merchandise. The Maryse and Nikki feud has been going on for years backstage and I feel like when they both get in the ring together there may be some harder than normal blows thrown. Of course because they are professional nothing will show, but everything will be told in their eyes. I’m going to go the opposite way here and say The Miz and Maryse win this match, although it would be funny to see John and Nikki win then get engaged in the middle of the ring.
Chris Jericho vs. Kevin Owens – The match of Jericho, drink it maaaaaan. No one has done a quicker face turn than Jericho in the past few weeks. Going from one of the most humorous heels to one of the most loved faces. No one is talking about his clothing and now the list is almost a weapon of freedom rather than a weapon of fear. Jericho has freed himself from the partnership of Kevin Owens, who seems to be going on a reflective dark pathway all the way to The Authority. The one true tell of this match is if Samoa Joe comes out to watch the match from outside the ring. This is a truly hard one to call, but I’ll say Jericho retains his championship.
Shane McMahon vs. AJ Styles -He may not be The Undertaker but AJ Styles does have a pretty big end to hold up as he has been egging Shane McMahon on for weeks. The won’t be a gimmick match, just a straight match with no bells or whistles. Since there isn’t anything high Shane can climb on, I would say look for high flying moves taking out a table as well as at least one coast to coast minus the trash can. The phenomenal forearm will have to do some real damage, because Shane will not be booked weak in this match. I think Shane is going to win and hold it over AJ‘s head until the next pay per view.
The Undertaker vs. Roman Reigns – If you cycle all the pay per views I have predicted, the one thing I have always done is wave the Roman Reigns flag. I have believed in him since the days of The Shield and even Triple H has remarked that Roman Reigns is a ticket seller no matter what people think about him. The Undertaker is a great example of an iconic wrestler, but the fact of the matter is he’s old and can’t do what he used to do. The last time he and Roman Reigns were in the ring and he attacked him, The Undertaker looked to have to lean on the ropes for a breather. They may want to make packages showing his strenght, but you can’t keep booking someone as the unbeatable when their ring presence is showing just how brittle they are. Roman Reigns is strong and fast and there is no way The Undertaker can keep up, so just like when Sasha went against Nia Jax, Roman Reigns will have to slow down this match. I want to see Roman Reigns win this match, but seeing how this may be The Undertaker‘s final match I believe they’ll give him the win.
Seth Rollins vs. Triple H – Who else see’s a appearance of Finn Balor during this match? Seth Rollins has agreed to a non sanctioned match, which is a different way of saying no disqualification. This means that if Samoa Joe doesn’t come out to help Kevin Owens, then he’ll come out for this match and then Finn Balor will come out and they’ll have a mini NXT rematch outside the ring. If you’re wondering why Finn may help Seth, you may have forgetten that the injury that Finn had was an accident. The injury wasn’t part of a story line, it was a bad bump against the guard rail. There have been pictures of Seth and Finn side by side in rehab so for all we know a friendship was formed with a like minded animosity against Triple H. Oh man they would be an amazing tag team, but I think Finn still wants his title run. I predict Seth Rollins will win, because it will be him overcoming adversity and not backing down.
Goldberg vs. Brock Lesnar – What are we giving this match, like seven minutes tops? Goldberg, like The Undertaker, is in shape but his stamina isn’t what it used to be. Brock is a trained MMA fighter and he has been taught to workout with all the extra muscle on him. Goldberg will not be walking out the champion, and I don’t think anyone expects him to. He came back and had his run, now it’s time to start winding down and accept that he’s a pay per view only guy. He may come out and make some promos, but after Brock Lesnar defated him I think Goldberg will make his way out of the scene in the next year.
