This week I decided to do something a little special. With E3 going on this week and the announcement of Xbox One having backwards compatibility, I decided to test it out. I’m a part of the Xbox One Preview Program, which means not only do I get system updates and features first, I get to start playing Xbox 360 games on my Xbox One and I get to take part in the Gears of War Ultimate Edition multiplayer beta. So far only a few digital titles are able to be ported over from your Xbox 360 library to your Xbox One, so I decided to grab two of them to see how they ran on my Xbox One.
The first game I played was Hexic, which came as a free game when you purchased an Xbox 360. It’s a puzzle game with simplistic controls and even simpler rules. You have to turn hexagonal tiles so that three or more of the same color are clumped together, once that has been done they disappear. You continue doing this until you’v reached your goal or you can’t find any tiles to put together, depending on the game mode.
The next game is N+, which is a game that I believe was around in some shape online prior to it coming to Xbox 360 as an arcade title. This is also a puzzle game, that involves you as a ninja looking guy trying to hit a switch to open a door. You’re not only trying to avoid enemies and obstacles while jumping from wall to wall, you’re also on a time limit. Through out the level there are gold coins that you pick up to increase your time, but some levels are really easy so the game becomes get as many coins as possible. As I’ve said many of time regarding games, I’m a big fan of the music. This game has some of the best music I’ve heard in a game and it’s so soothing. There are unlimited tries and even multiplayer, which I can tell from experience is great. If you have this title, make sure you port it over from your Xbox 360 to your Xbox One.
