Anther Way Back Wednesday means another entry into our full playthrough of The Simpsons Game. In this episode we pick on Bart picking up Grant Theft Scratchy at their local game store SequelStop, which is obviously a play on Grand Theft Auto and Gamestop. After Bart greases the palms of the sales clerk he is stopped by Marge on the way home and the game is taken away. A manual for The Simpsons Game falls from the sky and after a cameo by Homer, both are off into the sewers as Bart plays the superhero Bartman.
The level is a shared Homer and Bart experience, but Homer is there to help complete puzzles. Bart takes flight as Bartman using his gliding abilities to traverse areas that are too big to jump over, while also using his slingshot. Bart’s special attack is a fury of bats being shot out as Bartman and in theory the glide doesn’t work all that well. There are some memorable characters in this level such as sideshow Mel and the three bullies you’re pursuing Jimbo, Curly and Dolph. You’ll also notice some games from past episodes in SequelStop such as Bonestorm and Lee Carvallo’s Putting Challenge.
The level is fun once you get into the musem itself, there are so many funny pieces of dialogue on the background that I feel like it’s ok to mess up and have to redo areas so you can hear them all. Much like the last boss in the first level, the bullies can be taken down by simple punches and at the end you get to see Principal Skinner and Chief Wiggum have some banter.
