It sure has been a great week for confirmations. First it was Boba Fett having a stand alone film, an Indiana Jones sequel and now Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5 has been confirmed. I had previosly written that some news had been leaked out, but now I can say with confidence that I’ll be able to play it in the near future. Gameinformer got the exclusive, with some information we could have guess as well as the list of skaters that will be playable.
Coming to the Playstation 4 and Xbox One, then Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 later, you will be able to play as a new batch of skaters thrown into classic gameplay. According to the article you level will have their own objectives and mission as per usual, but now you can also obtain power-ups and for specific mission you can shoot projectiles. Being a current generation game not only will you be playing the solo campaign, but couch co-op and online multiplayer will be available. The create a skater will be back as well as the skatepark editor, most likely able to be uploaded and shared online.
Aside from Tony Hawk, Andrew Reynolds is the only other familiar name that is listed as a playable skater. The other available skaters are Nyjah Huston, Aaron Homoki, Ishod Wair, Riley Hawk, Lizzie Armanto, Chris Cole, David Gonzalez and Leticia Bufoni. If Riley Hawk sounds familiar, it’s because that’s Tony’s son.
If you want my opinion, I’m more excited by the soundtrack. No matter what the quality of previous Tony Hawk games have been, I have always loved the music selection. It was because of Tony Hawk that I learned about Dead Kennedy‘s and Agent Orange.
There is no release date listed as of right now, but look for something at E3 and check out some of the screen shots below
