Yesterday Ubisoft kicked off their E3 2015 press conference in the best way, by showing the trailer to the next South Park game. When the Stick of Truth game out, I thought it was the smartest, funniest most self aware game that I had every played. The jokes were constant, the controls were unique and the writing was hilarious. I don’t remember a game that had me talking to friends and coworkers about parts of the game and how we overcame them more than with Stick of Truth.
After the game came out Matt Stone and Trey ParkerΒ were very vocal about how they weren’t going to make another game, but after the debut trailer of South Park: The Fractured But Whole Matt and Trey came out and revealed why they changed their minds. Trey told Aisha Tylor, the host of the Ubisoft press conference, that they were “babies” and only understood how to make a game when Stick of Truth was just about done.
The new game is also very self aware with Cartman making jokes about how the fighting system sucked in their first adventure, and how this new adventure better get a 9.5 on Gamespy. Instead of going back to their fantasy RPG characters, the gang has decided to change it up and take up their superhero personas.
Eric Cartman – The Coon
Kenny McCormick – Mysterion
Kyle Broflovski – The Human Kite
Stan Marsh – Toolshed
Butters Stotch – Professor Chaos
The synopsis of the game is as followed
Players will delve into the crime-ridden underbelly of South Park with Coon and Friends. This dedicated group of crime fighters was formed by Eric Cartman whose superhero alter-ego, The Coon, is half man, half raccoon. As the New Kid, players will join Mysterion, Toolshed, Human Kite, Mosquito, Mint Berry Crunch and a host of others to battle the forces of evil while Coon strives to make his team the most beloved superheroes in history.
