It has been confirmed by Hadoken that SNK-Playmore is currently working on a new Samurai Shodown game. The game is set to come out in 2017 and stay true to it’s origins with 2D gameplay but adding 3D models. The game isn’t the only think Samurai Shodown coming out that year, along side with the game an anime adaptation of the series will also be released.
Samurai Shodown was first introduced to me through an arcade cabinet in a donut shop while I was in high school. The game was fun and I was actually pretty good at it, so much that I would get to school extra early so I could go play it while I had my morning donut. I don’t know how much money I put into the game, but I can assure you the entertainment return was well worth it.
There is no word on who the playable characters will be, but I can guarantee you that this will be released on both the Xbox One and the Playstation 4. I know I spoke about how good I was when I was younger, but check out a Way Back Wednesday we did with the game and oh boy am I horrible.
