E3 is still about four months away, and Microsoft has already stirred things up by moving the date of their Media Briefing. In the past E3 week started on Monday with Microsoft, Sony, Ubisoft and EA have done their Media Briefings, and last year Bethesda held their on Sunday. It was announced today on Xbox‘s Twitter account, and later by an official press release, that Microsoft will be moving their Media Briefing to Sunday.

As of right now there is no reason why the Media Briefing was changed to a day earlier than normal, but one could speculate that they just want all the attention for what they’re going to announce. If the much rumored Scorpio is going to be shown or even talked more about, then I’m sure they don’t want the other companies briefings to overshadow any announcements Microsoft has. Not to say that Bethesda won’t have anything special to show, but removing themselves from the day that their direct competitor makes announcements may be the only reason. Nintendo has been doing this for a while, and it makes sense that each company take a day. This could also bode well for Xbox gamers who want a chance to see the Media Briefing, but who can’t afford to take Monday off from work.
