If you had a paper clip, a match, a torn piece of paper and two stick of gum do you think you would be able to get out of a sinking ship? Most likely the answer would be no and you would drown, but if you had MacGyver with you then a fully functional scuba suit could be made and safety would be just a few moments away. I know that was an exaggeration, but that’s the kind of fun that the show brought out of people. From 1985-1992 Richard Dean Anderson portrayed Angus MacGyver and each week we saw how he used the most out of the box thinking to get out of situations.
It was announced that CBS would be getting a pilot for a MacGyver reboot, and THR recently reported that Lucas Till would be taking over the lead role. The show will take a look at a young MacGyver in his 20’s using his problem solving ways to help the organization he was recruited into.
CBS currently has a team version of MacGyver running right now called Scorpion, and I have a feeling that the popularity of that show has something to do with it. The only difference between Scorpion and MacGyver is that MacGyver isn’t a genius, but don’t let Patty and Selma know I said that.
