Much like the other Marvel shows coming to Netflix, I completely forgot about Jena Malone‘s involvement in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice. Everything we’ve seen about the movie feature the founding members of the Justice League, Alfred, Lex Luthor and even a dead Zod but no Jena. If the following rumor is true, then we may be getting to see some Jena in future trailers or clips. According to Latino-Review, Jena Malone will be playing Barbara Gordan aka Batgirl aka Oracle.
If this is true, then Barbara should be in her mid 30’s and possibly still playing Batgirl. This also put a possible side story line of Barbara and Dick Grayson being together, before she follows in her fathers footsteps and becomes commissioner. Of course, this is just me following what I’ve seen on Batman: The Animated Series and Batman Beyond, the movie could go a different way.
With the inclusion of the Joker in Suicide Squad and his presence being known by his signature HA on Robin‘s suit, Barbara could very well be in a wheelchair playing Oracle. Of course we would have seen something in the trailer with her in a wheelchair or maybe one in the background, so right now all we have is speculation.
This is both frustrating and exciting all at the same time. I want to know who’s playing who, but I don’t want the story to be spoiled. The worst thing is that there’s two different possibilities of how they want to portray Barbara in the movie, but for all we know she could just be part of a flashback.
