Ever since the game could be pre-orderd Final Fantasy XV has been mine, because my sister bought it for me. This was back when the Xbox One was first released, so I’ve been waiting a pretty long time. When the demo for Final Fantasy XV was released I thought that the game was very near, and could possibly come out during the holiday. Unfortunately, the news came out that it would not be released this year and no real date or window was given. It was only at the end of a video Avalanche did at PAX was year confirmed.

A year is a huge window, but I’ve been waiting so long how much more could really hurt me at this time. So not only did a release year get shown, but a new gameplay clip of the game was shown.

The clip is just of the 4 guys from the demo driving, but it really shows off the graphics of the game. The hair blowing in the wind as well as the 360 camera able to circle the car and see the environment is very impressive. I’m not sure just how much time you really spend in the car, but I’m guessing it’s significant because they have given the player a lot of controls while driving.

I can just imagine the four guys in the car morphing into a top down view of an 8 bit sprite walking across a land like in the original Final Fantasy, because that’s essentially what’s going on here. You and your party are traveling from place to place to either stock up in a town or go find a boss. The video shows you stopping to look at animals you can fight, just like when you walk around looking to grind levels in open fields.

This is why I love Final Fantasy. I can look at a 5 minute clip of people driving and instantly go back to older games I’ve played and relive memories.
