When growing up as a teenager with cable in the 90’s, my life was mostly video games, cartoons and going to arcades to play video games about cartoons I watched. Before the creation of Cartoon Network, I spent most of my time watching Nickelodeon. I watched different live action kids shows as well as cartoons during the weekdays after school and on Saturday it was all about Snick, which was featured such shows Ren and Stimpy, The Adventures of Pete & Pete, Clarissa Explains It All, All That and even KaBlam!. Over the years the lineup changed, but the creation of the term Nicktoon was created. Nicktoons was a way to gather characters from different Nickelodeon cartoons together to be put into media such as video games.

Sadly the Nicktoons of the past have been retired, but that doesn’t mean they have to be gone forever. It was reported that Jared Hess will direct a Nicktoons movie, that is slightly similar to how Who Framed Rodger Rabbit? involved live action and cartoon characters. The movie is actually based on an idea by Ali Mendes who grew up watching the cartoons. So far it was announced that characters from Rugrats, Ren & Stimpy, Rocko’s Modern Life, Aaahh! Real Monsters and The Angry Beavers will all be in the movie. This is only the beginning of cartoons that have characters in the movie, but I’d like to think that they would also dive deeper in the vault and have other characters.
