It’s time for another wonder WWE pay per view, this time it’s one of the big ones that matter. Unlike other smaller pay per views that are used just as story filler, Summerslam is one where the writers really try to pull out something special. This Summerslam is being held at the Barclays Center and will be extended to 4 hours, so that matches can be lengthy and not feel so rushed. All belts are being put on the line and there’s a huge non title match, so let’s take a look and make some predictions.
These matches are in no particular order
Randy Orton vs. Sheamus – This match is just an ongoing feud and I think Sheamus is so boring to watch. The one thing we’re all going to watch this match for is the RKO out of nowhere and for Sheamus to lose. I think Sheamus loses but this won’t be the last you see of him that night.
Ryback vs. Big Show vs. The Miz – Ryback just recently returned from an injury, so there’s no way they’re going to let him lose the belt. Ryback will retain the belt, but the match will be mostly him and Big Show beating the hell out of The Miz.
Bray Wyatt and Luke Harper vs. Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose – Rumors are flying all around this match up, like there might be a heel turn but I hope not. I used to love when the Wyatts and The Shield wrestled because they had some of the most entertaining matches. I think this match may surprise some people with just how fun it turns out to be, but I’m going for a Reigns and Ambrose win.
The Primetime Players vs. Los Matadores vs. The Lucha Dragons vs. The New Day – I’d like to see The Lucha Dragons win so we can see their acrobatics more often, but I don’t know if they’re going to put them over. The New Day has had a lot of TV time, and Los Matadores are there just as jobbers…this is really difficult. I’m going to play it safe and say The Primetime Players win.
Stephen Amell and Neville vs. Stardust and King Barrett – This is going to be an interesting match, but a very predictable match. I’m not sure how much they’ll let Stephen Amell do, but I think it’ll end with Stephen spearing Stardust in a spot where Neville can perform the Red Arrow and then letting Stephen get the pin.
Kevin Owens vs. Cesaro – Kevin Owens has become one of my favorite people to see wrestle and Cesaro has gained a ton of popularity lately, so this match will be filled with both high flying and hard hitting action. The Cesaro section will be happy as he pins Owens for the win.
The Bella Twins and Alicia Fox vs. Naomi, Sasha Banks and Tamina vs. Paige, Charlotte and Becky Lynch – This has the possability to be a great match if they let the only two strong women fight alone for a good part of the match. The two women I speak of are Tamina and Charolotte, they have the size and strength to pull off some big moves on each other. The rest of the women in the match will have a decent amount of time in the ring, but I see Charlotte pinning Sasha Banks.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Rusev – I think Dolph is going to win, but that’s not the best part of this match. Lana and Summer Rae are going to finally have time to really get into a fight without the referee’s stopping them. No wardrobe malfuctions, but I would love to see Lana perform a Zig Zag.
Brock Lesnar vs. The Undertaker – A rematch 18 months in the making, blood will be drawn and this will be a lot of punches and forearms. I don’t think you’ll see Undertaker walk the ropes, but you’ll see him perform at least two tombstone pile drivers. Brock will get at least three suplexs on him and one F-5. This match has been built up to be undead vs beast and that’s what you’re going to get. Undertaker is going to win, but he’s going to take a beating from Lesnar.
John Cena vs. Seth Rollins – This is going to be a great match, and I say that as a person who really doesn’t care for John Cena. I’m still waiting for the boy scout persona to drop and he just turn into the worst heel of all time. I see Cena getting the pin but Sheamus will come out and cash in the Money in the Bank contract, only to have things messed up by Kane who will make a surprise return.
Jon Stewart is hosting and he’s been butting heads with Rollins so that may play a small factor. Also there are some legends heading to a signing prior to Summerslam, and with the rumor of Sting being at Summerslam we may see some old timers in an impromptu match that sets up Wrestlemania next year.
